The Academy of Integrated Humanities and New Media (AIM) is a film program at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, CA. This is a two-year interdisciplinary program for juniors and seniors that integrates the classes of English, History, and a documentary media studies class. Each semester we produce short documentaries about a given prompt and other mini projects. My documentaries, Dreams Displaced (Student Emmy Winner) and She Drives Change showcase two projects that focus on illuminating often under-represented voices and stories.
'Dreams Displaced' is a powerful short documentary that follows Theresa Harlan, a woman of Tamal Ko origin, as she fights to reclaim her ancestral homeland from the custody of the National Park Service. Through her story, the film explores the exclusion of Indigenous communities from the American Dream, the rise of the Land Back movement, and the enduring hope for justice and restoration.
'She Drives Change' is a powerful short documentary that shines a spotlight on the often-overlooked world of women in motorsports. In an industry long dominated by men, this film breaks the silence, giving voice to female race car drivers who are challenging stereotypes, defying expectations, and claiming their rightful place on the track. Through intimate storytelling and high-octane visuals, She Drives Change documents the journeys of young women drivers on the rise: fierce, talented competitors determined to carve out their space and inspire the next generation. More than just a film about racing, it’s a celebration of resilience, ambition, and the drive to change the status quo.
